A2 (Elementary) level conversations: (17) Seasons and Holidays
Jack: Hi Anna! How’s everything going?
Anna: Hey Jack! All good, thanks. Just thinking about how the weather is changing. Winter is coming.
Jack: True, it’s getting colder. Do you have a favorite season?
Anna: I love spring. The flowers blooming, the weather getting warmer—it’s so refreshing. How about you?
Jack: I prefer summer. I love spending time at the beach and enjoying the longer days. By the way, any exciting plans for the upcoming holidays?
Anna: Well, for Thanksgiving, my family and I usually gather for a big feast. It’s a tradition, and we all contribute to the meal. How about you?
Jack: That sounds wonderful! For Christmas, we decorate the house, and my mom bakes delicious cookies. It’s a cozy time with family. Any specific holiday traditions you enjoy?
Anna: On New Year’s Eve, my friends and I have a small party. We reflect on the year and set goals for the new one. It’s a fun way to welcome the new year.
Jack: Nice! I usually watch the fireworks and spend time with family. Speaking of holidays, do you exchange gifts?
Anna: Yes, we do a Secret Santa exchange. It adds an element of surprise, and it’s fun trying to guess who got you a gift. How about you?
Jack: We exchange gifts too. It’s always a joy to see the reactions when people open their presents. Switching gears a bit, do you have any favorite winter activities?
Anna: I love ice skating and building snowmen. It brings back childhood memories. How about you?
Jack: Skiing is my go-to winter activity. There’s nothing like hitting the slopes. Well, Anna, it was great talking about seasons and holidays with you!
Anna: You too, Jack! Seasons and holidays bring so much joy. If you ever want to join our New Year’s party or go ice skating, let me know!
Jack: Absolutely, Anna! Let’s plan something fun for the holidays.
