A2 (Elementary) level conversations: (29) Pets and Animals
Amy: Hi Chris! How’s your day going?
Chris: Hey Amy! It’s good, thanks. How about yours?
Amy: Not bad. I was thinking about pets, and I’ve always been curious if you have any.
Chris: Well, I don’t have traditional pets, but I have a horse named Spirit. He’s a majestic and gentle creature.
Amy: That’s so unique! Having a horse must be quite an adventure. How did you end up with a horse as a pet?
Chris: I’ve always loved horses, and a friend introduced me to Spirit. We instantly connected, and I decided to adopt him.
Amy: That’s a wonderful story! What’s it like having a horse as a companion?
Chris: It’s incredible. Horses are not just pets; they’re friends. Spirit and I go on long rides, and spending time with him is therapeutic.
Amy: That sounds amazing! Do you have any favorite memories or funny moments with Spirit?
Chris: One time, he nudged me with his nose when I was feeling a bit down. It was like he could sense my emotions and wanted to comfort me.
Amy: That’s so touching. Animals possess an extraordinary capacity to form deep connections with us. How do you take care of Spirit?
Chris: Proper nutrition, regular exercise, and grooming are essential. It’s like taking care of any other pet, but on a larger scale.
Amy: I can imagine. Do you participate in any equestrian activities with Spirit?
Chris: We’ve dabbled in a bit of everything, from trail riding to some light jumping. It’s not about competition but enjoying our time together.
Amy: That’s a healthy perspective. It’s more about the bond than winning prizes. By the way, do you have any favorite horse breeds?
Chris: I’m fond of the Clydesdales. Their strength and gentle nature always impress me. How about you?
Amy: I’ve always admired Arabian horses. They’re not only elegant but also known for their endurance.
Chris: Great choice! Each breed has its unique qualities. Do you have any favorite movies or books featuring horses?
Amy: “Seabiscuit” is a classic horse racing film that I enjoyed. The determination of the horse and jockey is inspiring.
Chris: I haven’t seen that one. I’ll add it to my watchlist. Well, Amy, it was lovely talking about horses and pets with you.
Amy: You too, Chris! Give Spirit a pat from me, and I hope you have many more wonderful rides together.
Chris: Will do! Let’s catch up soon
